SOUTHINGTON – Quebec’s church records can reveal essential information for people researching their French-Canadian heritage. Professional genealogist, Bryna O’Sullivan of Charter Oak Genealogy, will lead a free program on this topic via Zoom during a meeting of the Southington Genealogical Society on Tuesday, June 25 at 7 p.m. The virtual event will also be shown on the screen at the Southington Historical Society, 239 Main St., if people wish to gather in person rather than “attend” on Zoom.
O’Sullivan, a French-to-English genealogical translator, will provide basic tips on how to find and read Quebec’s church records. In the March edition of the Association of Professional Genealogists Quarterly, she presented insights into genealogical translations as a component of the genealogy business.
The following meeting of the Southington Genealogical Society will be held Tuesday, July 23, featuring a pre-recorded webinar on Genealogy DNA Basics.
Now celebrating its 40th year, SGS meets monthly on the fourth Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the historical society.
