On November 22, 2016, Nora Galvin will present a program on DNA and Genetic Genealogy. DNA is the one way to be absolutely sure you are related to someone. This basic lecture introduces the three types of tests done for genetic genealogy, explains what can be learned from each and who should be tested. Information is provided about the three major US companies and what tests they provide.

A former biology teacher and laboratory scientist, Nora started a full-time genealogy business in 2005. She specializes in Connecticut research, Irish research and genetic genealogy. Nora is active in local genealogy societies and regional professional organizations and was awarded the postnomial “Certified Genealogist” in 2014.

On October 25, 2016, Gerald Seagrave, Librarian at the Connecticut State Library, will present information on materials and services available for genealogy research at the History and Genealogy Unit of the Connecticut State Library.  The presentation will include using town vital records, accessing data bases and using State archives.

Mr. Seagrave has been a Librarian at the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, the Police Officer Standards and Training Council and, most recently, the Connecticut State Library.
