Next meeting, May 26, 2015 , Webinar: “Researching your Italian Ancestors”, Ruth Lapioli Merriman

Discover your Italian ancestors. Find the necessary records, learn what to look for, and acquire some interesting history in the process.

On Tuesday, May 26, 2015 the Southington Genealogical Society kicks off the New Year with a prerecorded webinar, Researching Your Italian Ancestors by Ruth Lapioli Merriman with permission from Legacy Family Tree Webinars and Ruth Lapioli Merriman. The webinar was originally presented on August 27, 2014. The meeting will be held at The Orchards at Southington in their second floor community room at 7:30 pm. There is no admission charge and no obligation to become a member. No reservations are necessary. The facility is handicapped accessible with an elevator.

Ruth Lapioli Merriman is the former manager of the International Research Consultation Unit in the Family History Library. She currently works preparing digital images from Italy for publication on the websites of both FamilySearch and the National Archives of Italy. Ruth has performed Italian genealogical research for 30 years. She has lectured and published numerous magazine articles on Italian genealogy.

Ruth is a graduate of BYU with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a Master’s degree in Library Science. Previously, she worked in Cataloging for FamilySearch. She has been an accredited Italian researcher with ICAPGen for 10 years.

The Southington Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization located in central Connecticut that promotes the accurate recording, research and preservation of family history.
