Next meeting, March 23. The Geology of Cemetery Gravestones

Next meeting, 3/22 at 7:30. SGS member Charles W. Dimmick will be speaking about the geology of cemetery gravestones. He will cover how headstones are made, the types of materials used in their construction and how they weather.
The meeting will be held at The Orchards at Southington in their second floor community room at 7:30 pm. There is no admission charge and no obligation to become a member. No reservations are necessary. The facility is handicapped accessible with an elevator
 
Mr. Dimmick is a Professor of Geology Emeritus, having retired from Central Connecticut State University (CCSU) in 2005 after 40 years of teaching. He is a Certified Professional Geologist, and served for three years as national editor for the American Institute of Professional Geologists (AIPG).
